The Mission of Olathe North Theatre

One: To educate, enlighten and foster an appreciation of the performing arts of all students who participate in the theatre, whether it is in the classroom, backstage, or onstage. To this end, opportunities are offered which provide the students with the necessary knowledge and confidence in order to succeed both in the classroom and onstage. For the student who is taking theatre as an elective, the classroom and stage experience can help create a raised awareness and appreciation of theatre, as well as increased personal confidence which can be applied to any field of study. For the student who is serious about pursuing theatre as a career goal, the Olathe North Theatre program offers a graduation endorsement based on completion of rigorous portfolio requirements.

Two: To provide the student body and surrounding communities with quality theatrical productions. To this end, Olathe North Theatre produces at least three major productions each academic year, while hosting and co-producing numerous others, including the North choir and band concerts, various musical groups, junior high school play competitions, and guest artists to lead workshops and demonstrations of their work.

The community is encouraged to play and active part in the theatre, working alongside the students in all aspects of production. In addition, Olathe North Theatre seeks to expand the audience base by an active out-reach program, parent booster group, and business partnerships. Taken together, Olathe North Theatre is moving towards providing live entertainment and opportunities for involvement in the performing arts for all ages and backgrounds.
