EAGLETTE ALUMNI
1992-1995
JENNA DELAY
1992-1995
I was a member of Dalene Moomau's very first Eaglette squad from
1992-1995. I was a co-captain my junior and senior years. After high
school, I graduated with a BS in Broadcast Journalism from KU and
produced the news in Topeka and at KCTV-5. Then I made a big shift and
became a high school English teacher (partially for the opportunity to
become a dance team coach!). I married my husband, Chris, in 2000 and
we have two children. Harlie is 3 and Dylan is 18 months. Chris and I
both teach English at Tonganoxie High School, just in between KC, KS
and Lawrence. I also coach the Chieftain Stars dance team at THS,
where I have been lucky to utilize fellow Eaglette Erin Cutshall as a
choreographer in the past. It's fun to attend camp and clinics with
people I know from high school.
My favorite Eaglette memory is a trip to Texas with some fellow
All-Americans where Holly Chappell and I were roommates and got our
prop jeans mixed up. Those of you who know us realize that I'm VERY
tall and Holly is VERY not tall, so the mix up made it impossible to
get Holly's jeans on my long legs. In the middle of the routine, I had
to pull the jeans off as fast as I could and get back into the
formation without making a big deal. I guess I covered well, though,
because we still won first place for talent night!
The thing I miss the most about the Eaglettes is the thrill of knowing
that I was a member of one of the most respected, most professional
high school drill teams in the state of Kansas. I try to instill that
same work ethic and feeling of pride in my Stars.
