In April 1997 this site was awarded a Classy Site Award recognizing excellent sites of K-12 teachers, and in May 1997 a Bright Site Award by the South Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium (SCR*TEC). It was on Computer Currents Interactive (Computer Currents Magazine) Links of the Week May 26, 1997 and now has moved permanently to CCI's Web Reviews page. In June 1997, it received the Education Index Top Site Award, and in September 1997, the Squishy Award and the Search Point Cool Site award. In October 1997 it earned a Kid In Us All Award. It was the Safe for Kids Site of the Week October 20, 1997, and was given a Helpful Sites Award in April 1998.

Fox 4 News Kansas City featured Mr. Warner's Cool Science in their weekly "Surfin' the Net" Consumer News segment March 26, 1999, after the producer and a photographer visited Mr. Warner's classroom, filmed students, and did an interview.

In April 1999, Mr. Warner's Cool Science was awarded a Hayhurst Gold Medal Award, and also Critical Mass Award for design and content.

This site is featured on kansascity.com in the Family and People/Kids and Teens section, was published May 97 and again April 99 in NEA Today, the newspaper of the National Education Association, and was the WiredClassroom web site of the week February 5, 1999. It has been listed four times in Net Announce, an online-newsletter, and was the featured site in Macs Unite October 1998. Many other websites have links to the Home page, formerly including the Science Links of the Smithsonian's National Science Resource Center.

This site was also chose by USA TODAY as a USA Today Education Best Bet Web Site for the week of January 23, 2000.

Mr. Warner's Cool Science voluntarily meets the Family-Friendly criteria of virtuocity.com , is a Smoke Free Site, and has been rated for Microsoft Internet Explorer's Content Advisor feature with the Recreational Software Advisory Council, Weburbia's Safe for Kids, and SafeSurf.
