South's Academic WorldQuest team won their
regional and will move on to represent the greater Kansas City area at the National Academic WorldQuest Competition in Washington, D.C.
The school recently held its annual Poetry Out Loud and Shakespeare recitation contests. Aubrey Aronson, junior, won the Poetry Out Loud contest and will compete at the regional competition on Jan. 16. Andrew Nielson, senior, placed first in the Shakespeare competition and will represent South at the branch competition on Feb. 28.
Newspaper awards
Four newspaper students, Emily Atteberry, senior, Emily Cook, Colin Karr, and Kylie Diviney, juniors, qualified Saturday at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association regional 6A competition for the state competition in May.
Andrew Nielson, , won the Kansas City English-Speaking Union branch Shakespeare competition and will compete at the National Shakespeare Competition in New York.
Wrestling state results
The Olathe South Falcons wrestling team placed 11th at the state tournament. Three falcon wrestlers placed at State. They were Zach Dremel, 3rd place, Nick Bauerly, 6th place, and a State Championship for Trip Hiller. Hiller will also be representing Olathe South in this years all-star wrestling evenet in the Metro Classic.
