About Mrs. Besel
Dear Parents,
Since I will be spending so much time with your child, I thought it may be nice if you know a little about me. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kansas State University. GO WILDCATS! I am originally from the Manhattan area growing up in Blue Rapids, KS north of Manhattan. So, purple has run through my veins for a long time! I have been teaching for 13 years! WOW! Has it really been that long? I taught for 7 years in the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District in grades Kindergarten and Second Grade. Six years ago I came to Arbor Creek and the Olathe School District and have loved every minute of it. My family and I have grown to love Olathe and now call it “home!” We love trying out different restaurants in the area, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals and of course my daughter and I LOVE all the shopping! Some of my favorite activities are: spending time with my family, shopping, going out to eat, playing volleyball and softball, traveling, hanging out at Lake of the Ozarks and of course I love teaching!
My husband, Mike, is s General Contractor for Quik Trip. We have been married almost 18 years. We have a daughter, Ashley, who is 16 and she is a junior at Olathe South! Where does the time go? She enjoys babysitting, hanging out with her friends, traveling, going to the lake and watching sporting activities. She is our pride and joy and we love shopping together, traveling, and just hanging out together.
I have wanted to be an elementary teacher since the day I read the book Helen Keller. Annie Sullivan, the teacher in the book, inspired me to work with children. I love working with children and I know I will love your child VERY much. We will work together to provide your child a safe, comfortable learning environment and to meet your child’s needs. Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions or concerns at 780-7300. During the day the easiest way to get hold of me is email at sbeselac@olatheschools.com.
Thanks you for all you do for your child’s education. I could not be more excited to start this school year. Here’s to a great year!
