Why We Do What We Do
Here at Olathe South High School, we are dedicated to the environment. We strive to make it better however we can whether that is just in our school, our community, or the entire world. Our goal is to be as environmentally friendly as possible so that we can keep our serene globe pure. We are here to set an example for schools across the country to show them what an environmentally friendly school looks like.
It is our goal to not only to keep our school environmentally friendly but to educate our students about the environment. We also strive to serve our community in as many ways as possible.
We believe strongly in recycling here at Olathe South. We provide the opportunity to recycle paper and plastic and currently working on recycling or other means of disposing of our Styrofoam lunch trays.
We are also working with http://studentsgoinggreen.com/ in order to spread the word about environmentally friendly schools. Through Students Going Green, we had a battery drive and plan to have more in the future.
Every year in October we have a day dedicated to community service. It is known as May Day, named after our former student naturalist teacher who passed away.
Olathe South High School is dedicated to becoming an environmentally friendly school because it will raise the quality of our lives and our posterity’s lives.
