Research Databases at PRT:
Go to the Olathe Student Page. Go to My Library-Library Databases. If you are at home, you will have to enter the username and password you use at school. If you go to the direct links in the list below from home, you will have to use the passwords on the handout you got at library orientation. Choices for research on the Student Page include:
- CultureGrams: research information about countries, states, cities, and more. Learn facts about geography and culture.
- World Book Online: online encyclopedia; search World Book Advanced, or you can choose the Kid or Student version from the choices on the lower left. PRT also subscribes to World Book Early Peoples (click the button for Early Peoples at the bottom of the page) about ancient civilizations. The username and password is at the library desk.
- EBSCO: several databases, including History Reference Center, Novelist Plus (books and authors), Literary Reference Center (books and authors), and Student Research Center (searches many media categories, including e-books, encyclopedias, magazines, video, primary sources, and more).

Graphic Organizers
These can help you organize projects and assignments in all your classes. Houghton Mifflin has a great site with many printable graphic organizers.
Some additional research sites:
Noodle Tools has an amazing list of search engines (no, Google is not the only option out there!) and they are organized by the type of information or results you seek.
Library Spot :This site contains links to all kinds of information.
Awesome Library: results are carefully reviewed by librarians; you can search by topic area, too.
